First and foremost AVOID stripes, plaid and elaborate designs. Solid clothing photographs the best! Also bring a variety of colored outfits; don't bring 5 blue outfits even if it is your favorite color. Try to avoid clothing that has corporate wording or logos on them, except for your H.S or future College logo. No need to make your portraits advertising billboards for a clothing brand. Vary the clothing style, all one look will get boring and not represent your clothing style. Modify the dress level; bring some dressy (prom dress or suit), some medium and some casual. Remember, it is best to do one or two outfits that parents will like, and then we can do the stuff you like.

Our sessions vary for how many outfit changes we permit with your booked session. This means if you change fast, you get more variety. Spend all day changing; you get less time in front of the camera. More if you are quick and work easy. We suggest you bring double the outfit changes that are noted in your session description.

Some portraits are close-up and others are full length. Plan out your wardrobe completely. It is hard to do a full length formal in your prom dress if all you brought were boots.

Also keep in mind, as a general rule of thumb, light clothes look better on lighter backgrounds and darker clothes look better on darker backgrounds. So if you prefer dark, bring dark, if you prefer some of both, bring some of both.

Group your outfits together on hangers. It is amazing how many people come in with clothes stuffed in a plastic bag and wonder why they are wrinkled! Make sure clothing that requires ironing is done so before arriving to the studio. Although we have an iron for touch ups, we don't want to waste your time on ironing.

If you are doing an outdoor session, most locations do not have places to change, however we do have a portable changing room.
